2010 Conference Programme

Spanish translation of conference programme

The conference programme for November 2010 is under development and will be made available on these pages as it is developed over the coming months. Below is the programme from the 2009 event, which was held on 24-25 June.

Economic downturns are worrying times for everyone, particularly when unemployment is on the rise. It may take some time before markets begin to operate within normal conditions again. But we might like to remind ourselves that economic decline is part of a cycle, better times will return, and businesses and governments need to ensure that Europe is also prepared for the economic upturn.

The 2009 conference programme will look at today’s challenges and opportunities: First, with respect to what happens to Europe’s human capital, the conference agenda will focus on skills development and evaluate how the European workforce is coping with change.

The programme will also present how the European labour market is responding to the current economic situation and will concentrate on competitiveness, innovation and restructuring.

Each conference session will introduce a line-up of speakers including political decision makers, business leaders, social partners, representatives of civil society as well as many other experts who will come on stage to share their sometimes conflicting views and expert knowledge of today’s key employment issues. Each topic will be illustrated by concrete examples of good practice and innovative solutions.
